Hamilton Adhesive Labels, a leading manufacturer of printed and plain labels for the food and drink, industrial, household and personal care sectors, has been awarded an AA rating – the highest possible – from the British Retail Consortium (BRC) and Institute of Packaging (IOP).
Certification to the BRC/IOP packaging standard is now a fundamental requirement of many leading food retailers and manufacturers. Developed together by the BRC and IOP, the standard assesses the ability of packaging manufacturers to comply with food safety requirements and demonstrate due diligence.

Paul Larkin, Operations Director at Hamilton Adhesive Labels, said: “It has been a real team effort to achieve an AA rating. We have implemented a programme of continuous improvement and committed to sharing best practice across the business in order to secure this achievement.

“To achieve the highest possible rating, we were able to demonstrate to the auditor that our procedures excelled the required criteria to meet the BRC/IOP’s extremely high global standards.

“This accreditation further demonstrates our commitment, passion and dedication to our work and provides customers with peace of mind that they can put their trust in Hamilton Adhesive Labels and the practices we employ.”

BRC accredited certification bodies audit manufacturing facilities around the world. From stock traceability, record controls, hazard and risk analysis to vehicle operating standards and personnel, strict protocol must be followed to ensure food safety, quality and legality are driven throughout every stage of the production process.

The BRC/IOP standard operates at two levels to allow its use for both food contact and non-contact packaging materials. Hamilton Adhesive Labels is certified to the Basic Hygiene category.
